Angler Charterboat keeps its guest count down to 8 anglers. This ensures everyone a comfortable time at sea.

 

- What to do on Fishing Day -

  1. You'll want to arrive in the afternoon on the day of your departure.

  2. Check in with the office. They will instruct you when you can board the boat.

  3. On the Boat: Find your bunk and set up camp. Get your sleeping bag in place.

  4. There will be a "Orientation" Meeting with crew and anglers.

  5. You are welcome to get on the boat at any time. Hang out. Chat with crew. Chat with other anglers. Or just go to sleep. Make sure you're on the boat when it departs!

  6. Departure Times may vary. The office or crew will inform you when your trip will leave.

  7. The crew will untie and drive throughout the night.

  8. Fishing usually begins at sun-up. The crew will have the gear in the water and begin trolling with jigs while you toss breakfast in your mouth and coffee in the head.


The "What to Bring" Checklist

  •   Sleeping Bag & Pillow

  •   Food and Drink:  2 days of breakfast & lunch and 1 night of dinner. The Angler has a microwave for your use. There's coffee and water on board. You may bring alcohol but you may not get drunk.

  •   Clothing - You'll be at sea 1 full day. Tuna is a bloody, oily fish. Also, it could be wet & cold. Dress in layers.

  •   Gear - We provide all tackle and bait.; however, you're welcome to bring your own gear. If you are a fly fisherman, you're welcome to use a fly rod AFTER you've proved to the crew that you know how to fish with regular tackle.

 

 


Facts about Washington's Albacore Tuna Fishery

Albacore fishing in Washington is becoming more popular each year. Since the '90's, an explosion of fishermen have jumped in with both feet.

According to WDFW, sport effort has grown from 73 angler trips landing 109 albacore in 1990 to 3,454 angler trips landing 24,608 in 2009.

Recreational anglers typically fish or albacore 50 to 100 miles off the Washington coast. Occasionally the albacore will come in as close as 35 miles and, on rare occasions, they have been known to come in as close as 15 miles.
